  • Short Term Rental Permits
    Short term rental permit renewals are due January 1st. Logs from 2019 guest stays (for renewals) AND PAYMENT must also be returned to the Village Clerks office withing 10 days of completing the application. As a reminder, anyone who plans to rent out their home, even if only for graduation weekend, must obtain a permit through the Village. Applications, sample logs, and fire and safety checklists may be found on our website. MORE>>
  • Important Recycling News
    Beginning in December, the Department of Recycling and Materials Management in Tompkins County will be implementing an enforcement plan to reduce the contamination rate in our recyclables. Recycling bins with contamination will receive orange "Warning" stickers which will alert residents to recycling mistakes they made. In February, residents who put unacceptable materials in their bins will receive a red "Rejected" sticker and the contents of their bin will not be accepted. MORE>>
  • Holiday Tree Recycling
    Please have your Christmas trees and wreaths ready for recycling for Friday, January 3rd's Brush pickup. Please remove all decorations.
  • November Water Bills
    The third quarter water bills were due Wednesday, November 20th. If you pay your water bill after the due date, please be sure to pay the penalty amount listed on your bill. There is a secure dropbox located just outside the main entrance of Village Hall if you would like to drop off your payment after hours. Bills may also be paid online or by check (with your account number written on the memo line). More>>

  • Village Hall Closed on Thanksgiving
    Village Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 28th for Thanksgiving. Residents who usually have trash pickup on Thursday will have their refuse picked up on Friday, November 29th.

  • The Board of Trustees is proud to introduce a newly adopted Code of all Village of Cayuga Heights legislation. Under the new Code, legislation is organized and indexed by subject matter, and all new or revised future legislation will also be organized and indexed accordingly as it is adopted.   • Village Offices Closed Columbus Day
    Village Hall will be closed Monday, October 14th in observance of Columbus Day. The refuse schedule is not affected by this holiday.
  • Fall Leaf Pickup
    Leaf pickup will take place October 15th through December 15th. Leaf piles placed curbside are removed and composted. Do not place leaves in the street.

    The 2020 Census Bureau will be sending members to canvas the Village starting the week of August 26th, 2019. Census employees have identification badges that include their picture and should be displayed while they are on duty. More>>

    The last movie in the Village will be held at the Cayuga Heights Fire Station at 6 PM on August 7th. The movie will be Ratatouille. Please join us for the last movie of the summer!

    August water/sewer bills will be mailed in early August and are due no later than Tuesday August 20th in order to be considered on time. Water payments (with account number written on the memo line) may be mailed to 836 Hanshaw Road or dropped in the secure drop box located outside the main entrance of Marcham Hall. Online payments may also be made with a minimal service charge. Please visit our water and sewer page to pay online.     Village tax bills were sent in early June and were due no later than July 1st for payments to be considered on-time. If you are paying your taxes after July 1, please be sure to pay the penalty amount listed on your bill. Taxes are payable online (service fee included) or by check, The Village will accept payments, with penalty, until October 31st.   • VILLAGE AWARDED "SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL" GRANT FROM NEW YORK STATE
    On April 24th, Governor Cuomo announced $6.5 million in funding to support transportation enhancements in the Southern Tier, including $535,000 to the Village of Cayuga Heights for the Walking Safe pedestrian accessibility enhancement program.   • Trash Tag Rate Increase
    For the first time in 25 years, the cost of trash tags will be increasing on June 1. The new rate will be $18/sheet of 12 tags. The Clerk's office can accept cash, checks or credit card payments (with a service fee) and is open Monday-Friday 9 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Arbor Day at The Cayuga Heights Elementary School
    Please join Andre Bensadoun, our Village Forester, to celebrate Arbor Day at The Cayuga Heights Elementary School on April 26th at 1:00 PM. Our Mayor Linda Woodard, the School Principal Brad Pollack and other local leaders will join the ceremony. A Cornelian Cherry tree, donated by David Fernandez from Cayuga Lanscape, will be planted.   • Village Recognized as a 2018 Tree City USA
    The Arbor Day Foundation has named the Village of Cayuga Heights a 2018 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The Village achieved this recognition by meeting the program's four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

  • Sunset Park Grant
    The Village of Cayuga Heights was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Tompkins County Towns and Villages Parks and Trails Grant Program. The grant will be used for enhancement and restoration of Sunset Park.

  • Natural Gas Safety Inspections in the Village
    NYSEG and Avangrid DDS will be conducting natural gas safety inspections in Village residences Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. though 4:00 p.m. during the upcoming months and into 2020. Avangrid employees have registered with CHPD, drive labeled white trucks and will have proper identification. All residents known to receive natural gas service should expect a visit from an Avangrid employee to check for any potential gas pipe replacement needs.

  • Upcoming Village Election
    The 2019 Village election will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at Kendal at Ithaca 2230 North Triphammer Road in Ithaca. Polls are open noon to 9 p.m. on the 19th. Offices to be filled include three trustee positions for a two year term. March 8th is the last day for voters to register with the Board of Elections to vote in the Village election. March 12th is the last day for the BOE to receive applications for an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter. March 18th is the last day for an applicant (or their agent) to personally deliver applications for an absentee ballot to the BOE.

  • January Reminders
    The Department of Public Works will be travelling throughout the Village to pick up Christmas trees and wreaths starting the second week of the new year. Please place your tree curbside
    and be sure to remove all decorations. Village Hall will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
  • "Making the Village" A Talk by Bea Szekely, Village Historian
    On Wednesday, January 16th at 7:00 P.M. at Kendal at Ithaca auditorium, Bea will talk about key figures in the early history of Cayuga Heights.
    Included will be landscape architects Harold Caparn and Warren Manning, who made the village a prime example of the American garden suburb; civil engineers from the Crandall family in Ithaca, who were largely responsible for making and maintaining the physical infrastructure over the course of decades; Cornell Law Professor C. Tracey Stagg, who played a leading role with developer Jared Newman in founding the village government; and Martha Hitchcock, the much revered first priccipal of the Cayuga Heights School. The event is free and open to the public. Please join us!
